Your Role as a Troop Leader
What Troops Do- Preparing for Success

Troops make friends, build new skills, earn badges and awards, and have fun!

Girl Scout research tells us that the most successful troops have the following in common:

  • Have at least 12 registered Girl Scouts in their troop
  • Host meetings 2-4 times per month during the school year
  • Hold an annual parent meeting
  • Encourage the girls to plan varied activities; including badges and Journeys, field trips, special events, community service, highest awards, and camp
  • Utilize the Volunteer Toolkit (VTK) and to discover the latest news, updates, tools, events, and programs
  • Participate in the Girl scout Cookie and Fall Product Programs
  • Celebrate accomplishments with an end-of-year celebration
  • Pariticpate in at least one summer activity together
