Be a Girl Scout Champion

For over 100 years, Girl Scouts has given girls the tools to lead, break barriers, and create positive change. These are the girls and young women who dream big and do bigger! Thanks to our volunteers’ incredible support of the Girl Scout Champion initiative last fall, we were able to reach three times more schools, families, and girls than ever before! We know there are still families who we aren’t reaching. Starting this year, the Girl Scout Champion initiative will be year-round with recruitment activities for each season. We need your help to make sure every girl who wants to be a Girl Scout has the opportunity to benefit from our life-changing program.

Year-round opportunities:

Service Units that participate in the Girl Scout Champion Initiative have the opportunity to earn up to $750 to support Service Unit activities, such as retention events, early renewal, day camp, etc. Service Units will also be eligible for up to 20 bonus points towards the SU Honor Award, as well as individual incentives. Review the Service Unit Incentive Flyer for full details.

  • Fall- attend Back to School events and invite leads to recruitment events that will support troop formation and help host a Girl Scout Launch Party
  • Winter- promote Girl Scouts at Kinder Round-up and preschools. Talk to your Recruitment Specialist about how you can help at a Recruitment Event
  • Spring- support Extended Year Membership events and Daisy Launch events
  • Year round- host a table at a community event and participate in the School Liaison Challenge

Get involved, here's how:

Host a table at a Back to School Night

Help introduce families to Girl Scouts and show the impact the Girl Scout program has on your girls and the community at a Back to School Night or similar event at your school! As a Girl Scout Champion, we'll give you all the resources you'll need to promote the importance of Girl Scouts at Back to School Night.

You'll receive an additional thank you gift when you return the Back to School Night sign-up sheet to GSOC within 24 hours of your event.* For extra points towards the Service Unit Incentive, follow up with your BTSN families within 7 days and invite them and to your SU’s Girl Scout Launch Party.

The recruitment resources you'll receive for hosting a table at a Back to School Night (BTSN) include:

  1. Girl Scout tote bag
  2. Thank you cards
  3. Launch Party invitations
  4. GSOC clipboard
  5. Plexiglass frame for flyer display
  6. Girl Scout branded pens
  7. Girl Scout tablecloth (for you to keep!)
  8. "Ask Me About Girl Scouts" pin
  9. GSOC branded clip
  10. Join flyers

Gifts will be distributed within two weeks of receiving the Back to School Night sign-up sheet.

Host a Girl Scout Launch Party

Contact your Membership Coordinator and Recruitment Specialist to help host your Service Unit’s Girl Scout Launch Party! Volunteers are needed to help check in families and run activities at our upcoming Girl Scout Launch Parties. At this free event, girls will experience Girl Scouts firsthand as they design a rocket, earn their first patch, and snack on space trail mix! Parents and guardians will receive information on starting or joining a local Girl Scout troop.

After returning the BTSN sign-in sheet, volunteers will have the opportunity to invite girls and their parents/guardians to their Service Unit’s Girl Scout Launch Party. Use the talking points provided below to invite prospective families to your event. See the full list of upcoming Girl Scout Launch Parties and recruitment events.
